Yeeeehaw! Earthworm Jim and More Returning from Interplay

In the immortal battle cry of a worm in a space suit we bring you news today that Interplay, notorious creator of Earthworm Jim, among other things, has announced their intentions to re-create their old classic IP's for now-gen hardware. You might be thinking to yourself, "Ok, sure, but what have they done for me lately? Earthworm Jim 2 was pretty good, but it also came out in 1995. And don't even get me started on that N64 fiasco. Do these games even hold up at this point?"

This morning, for the first time in years, I connected my Sega Genesis to the television. Carefully, gently, I blew out the bottom of Earthworm Jim, one of three Genesis games still in my possession (where did you go, Mario Lemieux Hockey?!). Lovingly, the cartridge met with the system, and it was good. OR!

Yeah, dude, game totally holds up. Shit's still funny. Controls are pretty tight. Be excited.

Though we can't necessarily say the same for Descent or MDK (though back in the day, we loved us some Descent and Fire & Ice), we imagine Interplay will do us all a solid on EJ. Between Capcom remaking Bionic Commando and 1942 (among others) and now Interplay announcing this, we've got a veritable gaming renaissance going on. Now if only Philly Brewing Company would remake some mead.
